The weather’s warming up, the sun’s coming out, and yes, the buttons are being undone. Getting a real deep V all the way down to the sternum is maybe not the best option for your next corporate meeting, but come the weekend it’s a killer look that shows a lot of confidence. If you’ve got darker skin it feels more natural – Mediterranean men have been owning the open shirt for decades, as it’s pretty much an essential part of their lifestyle. Keeping – and looking – cool is a demanding job when it’s 30+ degrees, after all.
The unbuttoned look has been seen all over runways recently, with special attention at Dior and Etudes. It’s got that Mick Jagger Rock and Roll feel that takes you back to the 1970s, oozing a ‘devil-may-care’ attitude that always grabs attention. There’s no doubt it’s a divisive look, but as far as I’m concerned, if you’re feeling it, then you should be wearing it – nobody likes a self appointed fashion cop. I can guarantee I’ll be unbuttoned all summer.
